It has been rumored that Gaddafi's son was killed by a suicide mission

Unconfirmed Reports that Khamis Gaddafi Killed By Rogue Pilot

It was reported on Algerian television today that Khamis Gadaffi, son of Muammar Gadaffi and head of his much-feared 32nd Brigade, had been killed by a Libyan Air Force pilot, turned rebel, in a kamikaze attack on one of his compounds. The story was picked up by the TV station after appearing in an online newspaper, favored by anti-Gaddafi forces, called ‘Shuruk’.

Khamis Gadaffi, a much hated figure amongst the anti-Gadaffi rebels, was said to have died at a hospital in after having sustained major burns in the suicide mission which was said to have caused a major explosion at the Bab al-Aziziya compound where Khamis oversaw operations for the specialist unit 32nd Brigade.

The story comes after a night of bombings against Libyan anti-aircraft and munitions stores by the UN no-fly-zone participant countries. It is thought that the same compound was a target for British cruise missiles from ships anchored off of Libya’s Meditteranean coastline. Another source has claimed that Khamis Gaddafi was simply injured in the Cruise missile attacks.

It is thought that Khamis has been involved in many of the attacks made by the 32nd Brigade special unit against insurgents in the country recently. The Brigade, along with mercenaries from nearby Zimbabwe make up a 10,000 strong force of the most loyal soldiers at Gaddafi’s command, and are feared in the country for their brutality.

The Libyan government has made no word at this time as to whether the rumors surrounding Khamis Gaddafi’s death are true.
